In no particular order, here’s a list of Chow Buzz’s old and new favorite food purveyors to help you complete your last-minute entertaining, gift-giving, and potluck needs this holiday season and beyond.

1. Tilde Café

My go-to one-stop food shop for years is Ginny de Guzman’s Gustare at the Fort, where one can order and pick-up sweet treats like former Sugarhouse Bakery standouts (as Ginny was the founding owner), French Apple Pie, Crunch Cake, and Mackintosh Pie together with hearty food platters of my favorite Lasagna Bolognese and her smoked fish dip. So happy that Gustare finally reopened as part of Tilde Hand Craft Café in the Poblacion area of Makati CIty.

The café includes loads of new dishes to offer, which includes one of Manila’s best sourdough bread that’s freshly-baked on the premises everyday.

2. Gourmet Corner

Bettina Osmeña’s Gourmet Corner started as a home-based catering business selling fresh and frozen gourmet meals at bazaars. She then opened an actual store at the San Antonio Plaza in Forbes Park, Makati City last October.

Now, it’s a convenient one-stop shop for the tastiest fresh and frozen curated goodies, which includes specialties like the Mallorca and Cunanan ensaimadas.

TIP: Besides Bettina’s curated items, party platters consisting of Truffle Mushroom pasta and cannelloni are must-haves.

3. Wildflour Café + Bakery

Every Christmas, Wildflour Café + Bakery offers its bacon like, preservatives free, pork belly ham that is available in 1 or ½ kilo portions, which is sold in a gift box complete with its own bottle of pineapple glaze and a small bag of parker rolls.

This Christmas, you can opt to save a trip or two and order desserts from them as well. TIP: Their Coconut Pie is to-die for. The café offers freshly-made pasta noodles in different shapes, flavors, and colors for your favorite pasta sauces at home, and a Cranberry Walnut bread that is perfect to serve with creamy cheeses. Wildflour also sells the best baguette in town.

Two dishes stand out when Mister Delicious comes to mind: Slow-cured, slow-smoked Holiday Ham finished with its signature brown sugar and charred pineapple glaze and Applewood Smoked Bacon.

TIP: Mister Delicious now also makes Christmas gift giving easier with Meaty Christmas Gift bags that you can fill with all your Mr. D smoked meat favorites. Throw a DIY sandwich party with these savory goodies.

5. French Fusion by Monique Santos-Roxas

Those looking for more traditional celebratory dinner fare, cannot go wrong with any of Chef Monique Santos – Roxas’ selections, which includes a cochinillo al horno done the Cebu way. It’s stuffed with lemon grass and thyme (good for 15 to 20 persons), an Angus Roast Beef that comes with a side of potatoes gratin with Gruyère and porcini sauce; Maple-glazed Roast Turkey with Italian sausage, apple, and white bread stuffing; cranberry jelly; gravy au jus; and my personal favorite, Rosemary and Thyme crusted leg of lamb, served alongside mint jelly and provençal vegetables.

TIP: Monique’s new bestsellers include Callos Madrileña and Shiitake, Wild Mushroom, and Asparagus Paella with White Truffle Oil.

6. Pepita’s Lechon Kitchen

Lechon Diva Dedet de la Fuente’s lechon de leche masterpiece comes in many flavors or variants. But, her French Lechon Stuffed with Truffled Mushroom Rice remains the perennial crowd favorite. For an even more delicious option, add foie gras.

Non-lechon lovers may want to try Dedet’s equally famous “Hiplog” or Shrimps in Salted Egg Sauce and her most recent savory hit, Crabs in Gulong-Gulong sauce.

The Plaza is well-known for its Baked Ham, but in our opinion, its Premium Roast Corned Beef, Smoked Tanigue and Roast Turkey are also worth its calories and are good options for those who are not into pork.

8. Andy’s Good Eats

Fabada lovers must-try Andy Huang’s Chinese take on an Asturian classic, a hearty and comforting dish that will surely not disappoint.

Can’t eat pork? Order Andy’s Blade Roast. It comes with a side of Andy’s to-die for Pomme Purée  is always a good choice. For a healthier option, have the Poached Halibut.

TIP: Smaller or half-portions, of Andy’s bestsellers (usually good for 4 to 6 pax) are also available. Perfect for smaller gatherings.

Chef Marc Aubry offers many special holiday dishes that are only available by special order. His Roasted Goose Filled with Apple and Calvados Stuffing that comes with Jus Roti, Braised Brussels Sprout, and Croquette Potatoes, together with his signature Homemade Duck Foie gras terrine (log type) and Beef Wellington, are traditional favorites.

TIP: Champetre is closing its doors for good on December 31. Don’t miss your chance to eat some of the restaurant’s signature goodies for one last time.

10. Stevie’s Hainanese Chicken Rice

Stevie Villacin’s version of Singaporean Chicken is well-loved by foodies and is a welcome break from the pork-centric dishes that usually dominate the Christmas season. Order at least one day in advance.

11. Artisan Cellar Door

Aside from premium meat products and wine, Artisan Cellars’ retail outlet called Cellar Door (located at Pasong Tamo Extension, Makati City) also sells premium-grade Cinco Jotas brand, and Jamon Iberico. Other premium items are cold cuts, French roast duck, and a variety of Australian cheeses. The Cinjo Jotas also comes in a nice box package that’s perfect for gift giving.

TIP: Cellar Door can also cook roast beef for you. I highly recommend its Blackmore Wagyu Brisket Roast

12. Mesclun’s Chicken Gallantina

A new go-to place, for old school Chicken Gallantina. Always a welcome addition to any holiday feast.

TIP: Mesclun has a full-catering arm aside from its restaurant operations and also has a party perfect roast corned beef platter for the non-chicken lovers.

13. Yuan’s Paella Plus

A hearthy paella option is Yuan Ongpin’s Original Paella. The hearty dish includes prawns, clams, chorizo, and greens, with a subtle spicy finish.

TIP: For an extra fee, the paella can be delivered to your party venue.

14. La Petite Fromagerie

New player in town is this catering arm specializing in everything made with cheese. Think assorted cheese buffet, Raclette buffet, fondue bar, or having a grilled cheese sandwich party.

The ultimate one-stop shop party platter provider gives you options from three different cuisines. Chow Buzz favorites include Cirkulo’s Beef Belly and Paella Montana (vegetarian),  Azuthai’s Shrimp Cakes and whole Steamed Apahap with lime.

At Shangri-la Fort’s High Street Café, available for orders are reasonably priced holiday festive meats like Honey-Roasted Boneless Ham Leg (around 1.5kg) with Spiced Pineapple and Chunky Rosemary Compote at Php1,250; Beef Chuleton USDA, pre-cooked sous vide (1 Kg) at Php1,250.

Roasted Christmas Turkey with traditional sidings (+/-7kg) for Php7,250, which already includes gravy, cranberry sauce,roasted potato, Brussels sprouts and red cabbage are also available.

Good ole favorites like Boiled Corned Beef, Whole Roast US Butterball Turkeys, and Leg of Ham are available for orders, pick-up, and delivery.

TIP: the Somerset Olympia branch is open 24/7 and sells a bunch of other goodies that can sweeten your meal at anytime of the day or night.

My go-to for traditional food and wine from European artisans. Think premium oysters from David Herve and artisanal butters and cheeses from Beillevaire.

TIP: Origine is owned by the same company that runs Sommelier Selection wines.
