The Moment Group has teamed up with Taiwan’s five-time Michelin star-awarded brand Din Tai Fung to finally bring “The World’s Most Famous Xiao Long Bao” to Manila next week.
Opening on Tuesday, December 8, at the ground floor of Mega Fashion Hall of SM Megamall is the much awaited Din Tai Fung, the popular Taiwanese dumpling house that is well-known for its xiao long boa or steamed dumplings filled with minced pork and broth.
This Taiwanese restaurant is so popular that long lines or queues could still be seen at its original branch in Taiwan and, as Chow Buzz experienced just last weekend, at its Causeway Bay establishment in Hong Kong.
Din Tai Fung’s fans generally say that it’s worth the wait to eat the perfectly formed xiao long boas that diners can see being prepared in its open kitchens. Quality control is observed as an important aspect of the restaurant’s operations. Din Tai Fung’s xiao long bao is made consistently down to the last meticulous detail, with every piece of the handmade xiao long bao pinched to have at least 18 folds.
For the holiday season, Din Tai Fung Philippines will be offering a free basket of pork xiao long bao to the first 50 tables from its December 8 opening day until December 15. A group of five diners and below gets a small basket with five pieces of the famous dumplings and bigger groups of six diners or more get a big basket with 10 pieces of xiao long bao. This promotion is applicable for dine-in only.
The Moment Group was established in 2012 by Abba Napa, Eliza Antonino and Jon Syjuco. To date, it is one of the country’s most dynamic restaurant groups, opening its own concept-driven restaurants like ‘Cue, Manam, BurgerBar, Ooma, and 8Cuts plus passion-fueled projects that include Mecha Uma and Bank Bar.
Before bringing in Din Tai Fung to the Philippines, the company has also partnered with groups who share like-minded philosophies, and brought in winning concepts to Manila such as Singapore’s Bistro du Vin.
