Banda Rito, Banda Roon at the CCP
Symphonic bands from all over the country converge at the Cultural Center of the Philippines in the Banda Rito, Banda Roon CCP 2012 National Symphonic Band Festival on April 10 to 14, 2012.
Concerts are scheduled on April 10 to 13, 2012 at 8 p.m.at the CCP Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo. On April 14, a grand marching band parade is slated at 4 p.m. at the CCP Complex Grounds to be followed by the closing concert at 7 p.m. at the CCP Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo. The Festival is presented by the CCP in cooperation with PhilBanda.
Ticket prices for the band performances are set at P600 for Orchestra Center and Parterre Boxes, P500 for Orchestra Sides and Lower Boxes, P400 for Upper Boxes, P300 for Balcony I and P200 for Balcony II. Discounts are at 50% for students, 20% for Seniors, Government and Military Personnel and Persons with Disabilities and 10% for Members and Subscribers.

Photography workshop at Silverlens
Internationally recognized fashion and portrait photographer Larnce Gold will moderate a four-session workshop on portraiture and Lighting
beginning today through April 25. Deadline for reservation is on April 13. This course is ideal for those who have a firm understanding of the principles of photography. Using fundamental lighting skills, you will gain a basic grounding in techniques for both studio and location work. Covering the use of available light and studio flash, you will gain a clear understanding of how to plan your shoot, to create dramatic effects and how to use flash.
Schedule of each session is from 6 to 8:30 pm. Topics are Intro/class: Pre-Production and the Creative Process on April 16; April 18 (Wednesday), Lighting theory and set assignment; April 23 (Monday)Shooting a Portrait, with group participation; and April 25 (Wednesday) Post Production/Retouching and Critiquing of Assignments.

MM Yu’s Inventory at Silverlens
MM Yu’s photographs capture the reality of the supply and demand of desire through the management of merchandise into patterns of abstraction. What is presented is a set of images juxtaposed against each other to produce meaning that invites the viewer to make connections about material culture towards a multiplicity of interpretations, which constructs a matrix of wanted goods, fantastic ideals, and real needs. Confined within the sanctuary of a four-walled universe are chance elements that when strewn altogether produce a perfect beauty arresting in its chaos.
