Forget the tedious and painful national news reports for a minute and think feel-good, fashion for a cause for a moment.

In this stylish side of town, making a splash these days is the much awaited annual fashion fundraiser called Red Charity Gala that will take place on Saturday, October 8, at the Shangri-la, The Fort. This year’s event puts the spotlight on veteran fashion and interior designer Chito Vijandre who will be presenting a 40-piece collection.

Organized by socialites, philanthropists, and the always stylish Tessa Prieto-Valdes and Kaye Tinga, the charity fashion event is for the benefit of the Philippine National Red Cross and Assumption High School batch 1981 Foundation.

This year, top online fashion shop Zalora, in partnership with the Red Charity Gala, collaborated with Vijandre for an exclusive bag design that will be produced by and sold exclusively on Zalora. Only 400 pieces of this limited edition bag will be available for Php995, with all proceeds directed to the Gala’s beneficiaries.

Paulo Campos III, CEO and co-founder of Zalora, said in a press statement, “We are pleased to partner with Red Charity Gala through the limited edition bags sold onsite from featured designer Chito Vijandre and the eight bags from the country’s top designers to be auctioned off. Leveraging Zalora’s platform and our nationwide reach, we are the perfect partner to spread awareness about the Philippine Red Cross’ important initiatives. As one of the country’s leaders in the digital space, it is incumbent upon us to give back to the country’s overall  economic development in whatever way we can,”

To add to the special collaboration, Zalora also tapped eight of the country’s top designers to embellish their own Zalora tote bags, which are being showcased at Zalora’s pop-up Store located in BGC. The participating designers are Rajo Laurel, Michael Cinco, Dennis Lustico, Furne One, Cary Santiago, Ezra Santos, and Joji Lloren. Each designer embellished one tote bag as part of the silent auction organized by Red Charity Gala.

Kaye Tinga, co-chairperson of Red Charity Gala, said, ”We are very excited to be working with Zalora for the Red Charity Gala, it’s always been one of our goals to promote Philippine fashion, and partnering withZalora introduces the work of our featured designer to a much bigger market through their site.”

Zalora’s participation in Red Charity Gala shows that the site goes beyond being a one-stop destination for popular and rising fashion brands, but also to prove that fashion can be more relevant, patronizing local art while helping those in need at the same time.

Sale of the limited edition Chito Vijandre bags started on September 27 on www.zalora.com.ph/red-charity-gala/. The Zalora Pop-up Store is located at C3, lower ground floor, Bonifacio High Street Central, Taguig City.
