VIDEO | Go for the thrill at Enchanted Kingdom’s Ghostbusters Adventure Live! for Halloween

Just in time for the Halloween season, Enchanted Kindgom (EK) recently added another reason for adventure seekers to visit the park with the launching of its newest attraction called Ghostbusters Adventure Live!

The theme park, which happens to be celebrating its 21st anniversary, recently invited writers to have a firsthand experience of what spooky things to expect in its haunted house-themed attraction. As we lined up with excitement and a bit of anxiety, dancing ghosts welcomed and ushered us towards a walk-through space that guaranteed visitors to have a lot of screams and a few jumps.

And scream and jump we did for a thrilling 15 minutes. Besides having a good dose of frightening moments, there were also rounds of boisterous laughter let out by our group, obviously enjoying each other’s company. The magic, fun, and in this case, thrill, got us at Enchanted Kingdom.

EK’s president and chairman Mario Mamon shared that horror attractions are among the popular stations of EK, “The horror attractions are in demand and our guests are really looking for it. But this time, we looked for something that is more known worldwide and a global brand. We wanted something that was a little scary but fun at the same time. [Yung] medyo comedy rin. When the opportunity to bring in Ghostbusters through Sudden Impact! Entertainment [came], we jumped in and started discussions, and the product of the negotiation [is this].”

In partnership with Sudden Impact! Entertainment, a global brand known for producing scare attractions in different parts of the world, Ghostbusters Adventure Live! “allows guests to relive the thrills and chills of the popular Hollywood movie franchise.”

As if the loud sounds and special effects aren’t enough to make your heart race, EK’s newest attraction has professionally trained “scare actors” who were taught under the respected Dominic McChesney’s Scare School.

McChesney, who is also Sudden Impact! Entertainment’s director of Live Attractions Worldwide, has built a career on teaching scare strategies and producing the “best scarers” out of his trainees.

According to Lynton Harris, Sudden Impact! Entertainment’s chairman and CEO, the walk-through space is safe, and caters to families, young kids, adults, and teenagers ; and without a doubt, a fun experience that is cool, entertaining, frightening, and scary.

Starting this October, Ghostbusters Adventure Live! runs for the next three years at the least and during EK’s operating hours.

More EK attractions
In addition to the Ghostbusters Adventure Live! EK is set to launch its most ambitious attraction to date–theAGILA, the EKsperience—which took inspiration from the majestic endemic Philippine Eagle.

Mamon shared, “We want to pay tribute to the mighty Philippine Eagle because it’s our national bird; it’s a nice symbol of our indomitable Filipino spirit that soars and flourishes wherever it goes no matter what.”

“We are due to open this attraction in December. The experience is going to be a groundbreaking theme park ride which builds a unifying sense of national pride in the rich beauty of our country. The larger than life flying theatre that takes guests on an unforgettable and exhilarating ride,” he added.

The attraction features a patented motion theatre technology that lets its riders experience a realistic sensation of flight while being shown a six-minute film with 6K resolution cinematography on a 544 sqm large format screen. The film is an interactive nature story about the country’s famed attractions from north to south including the Batanes lighthouses, the underground river, and more.

Special effects combining wind, water, mist, scents, overhead stereo speakers, and seat bass shakers further enhance the experience of the audience.

“When we built EK 21 years ago, the concept was an escape from reality so [there’s] nothing Filipino [about it] as you’ve seen; but after 21 years, we felt that we have to give back. It is also the time by which we should bring out national pride. We should educate future generations of how beautiful our country is. AGILA is just the start of what will be known as a cultural zone. All the rides and attractions at AGILA will be about the Philippines and its beauty both for educating Filipinos and for foreign tourists alike,” Mamon shared.

“It is a substantial investment that we feel would really be world class, and would put Enchanted Kingdom at par with other regional parks in Asia,” he added.
