Incensed by a lover? Fuming mad at your boss? Indignant about national issues? Or exasperated about life in general? Well, bring it on in Tarlac where its Tacsiyapo Wall might be the answer to letting go of all that anger inside you.

Some people will go into stress eating and might probably enjoy food tripping in an eatery such as Isdaan Restaurant in Gerona, Tarlac. But more travelers heading to Northern provinces and are making the restaurant a stopover are discovering an interesting feature called Tacsiyapo Wall for venting your rage.

“Tacsiyapo” is a Kapampangan term used to express annoyance or irritation. In a stall in Isdaan Restaurant, you can release your anger or stress by throwing familiar household items such as plates, cups, mugs, wall clocks, flower vases or even appliances like television against the wall. For as low as Php15 a cup, customers can throw and smash stuff to their heart’s content.

You can choose your target on the wall: "Magnanakaw", "5/6", "Ex-wife", "Taksil" and a lot more. Photo by Aliana Gimena, InterAksyon.com.

Before throwing your chosen houseware, you are encouraged to shout the word “Tacsiyapo” first.

Spectators may find the act of smashing as amusing but is it healthy? Wynette Solis, a psychologist at St. Luke’s Medical Center, says that throwing things and screaming may be a good way to release one’s negative feelings. Solis said, ”It may be helpful especially when you don’t address it directly to someone. It’s healthy because you’re distracting yourself so you don’t get overwhelmed by your emotion.”

However, Solis stressed that throwing something is not the only way to be freed from anger. “There are other ways like learning how to relax and doing breathing exercises. The bottom line is that one must learn how to control it [anger].”
