As part of her national costume for the coronation night of Miss Universe, Philippines’ bet Maxine Medina is to wear a headdress featuring South Sea Pearls. This was according to Filipino designer Rhett Eala, who will be the one making Medina’s national costume and gown for the much-awaited pageant.

“I can only tell you that the headdress of Ms. Philippines will be made by Jewelmer. There’s going to be South Sea Pearls, Eala told some reporters during Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc.s’ send off event for Medina at Novotel Hotel in Araneta Center, Quezon City.

On the other details of the costume such as choice of color or material, Eala is still keeping it a secret. For Medina’s evening gown for the coronation night, Eala shared that it will be “very sexy but very elegant.”

“Maxine’s concern is she wants to show off her figure so I’m not gonna do anything that’s not flattering for her figure,” he said and further added that he and Medina both collaborated for the look of both the national costume and gown.

Eala further shared that it was easy for him to dress Medina for they are friends and have known each other for quite some time already.

“I know her personality,” he noted.

“The one that she wore in Binibini as well as her national costume during Binibini was mine. We’ve been working with her for quite sometime,” Eala added.

The Filipino designer also praised Medina’s confidence and other “assets” as a beauty queen.

“Her walk, her confidence (are her assets). She can project well and now, she’s able to answer. She’s come from a shy girl to a confident girl,” Eala said.
