In celebration of International Women’s Day, March 8, leading fabric softener brand Downy honored women whose stories will never fade in a gala event held Wednesday night at Shangri-La The Fort in Taguig City.

Dubbed as the ” #NeverFade” campaign, the multi-country event, which was held simultaneously in other Southeast Asian countries including Malaysia; Singapore; Thailand; and Vietnam, aimed to “encourage empowered women to inspire more women across the region on International Women’s Day.”

Leading the gala in the Philippines was Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach who shared her own #NeverFade story, and how she wants to leave a legacy.

On winning Miss Universe, she shared, “It’s like a fairy tale to me. I never imagined that it will actually come true. Of course it was a dream of mine to become Miss Universe but I have a lot of people to thank, a lot of people who empowered and inspired me, women in particular, to help me become Miss Universe. And now that my reign is over as Miss Universe, I try to continue on with that legacy—raising awareness on HIV, and also empowering other women.”

“I don’t think that just because my reign is over, it means that I should stop because one day, or even up to now, I really hope that somebody is going to see me, going to watch me, going look at me, and say, ‘I wanna be like her,’ the same way that I dreamed of being Miss Universe, watching the girls on stage as a kid. To me, a truly #Never Fade Filipina is one that creates a legacy, not a moment,” she added.

Joining Wurtzbach in the campaign were advocate for climate change, TV host, and young mom, Bianca Gonzalez-Intal; artist and World Food Program ambassador, KC Concepcion; and Philippine Commission on Women executive director Emmeline Versoza—all of whom have inspiring stories to tell.

Gonzalez-Intal reminds women to remember who inspires them. She said, “Now that there’s social media, there is such pressure on women to always look good, to be fabulous, but the reality is there are days that we have self doubt, we question ourselves. But I hope this campaign, this message, helps every woman to remember all the people who inspires us, who helped us get to where we are, and to know that (although) there are people we look up to and there are people who empower us, for sure, there are also people we may or may not know that we inspire every single day. We really matter to someone, and that we will never fade to those people.”

For Concepcion, it is important to take a look at the people who love us, who work for us, and those who are there for us unconditionally.

Meanwhile, Versoza underscored the value of believing in one’s self. She shared, “To never fade is to believe in yourself, keep a positive spirit, believe that you have that inner goodness inside you, and never give up. To take on challenges as opportunities for growth. If you believe in that, that inner goodness will come out and permeate. And that for me will never fade.”

According to Louie Morante, regional brand communications for P&G Asia Fabric Care, Wurtzbach, Gonzalez-Intal, Concepcion, and Versoza embodied the essence of the #NeverFade campaign.

“We aim to inspire and encourage more women to be relentless in pursuing their dreams and ambitions in life,” Morante said in a statement.

The four women also acknowledges the important women in their lives during the event. Gonzales-Intal honored her friend Mikaela Martinez and her mother Ofel Malasmas; Concepcion honored their household help, Nanay Lina; Wurtzbach honored her sister, Sarah Wurtzbach, and Versoza honored her mentors and colleagues, Dr. Rhodora Bucoy, Aurora De Dios, and Honey Castro.
