What goes well with a pricey, elegant seater? Why a Php7,000 bottle of wine, naturally. Ethan Allen literally drives home the point in a wine party it graciously threw a couple of weeks ago at its stylish Makati showroom.
The gathering of VIPs, the metro’s established interior designers, and loyal patrons of premium American brand of home furnishings made the roll call at the “A Taste of Timeless” series. Eric Kahn of wine distributor Forth and Tay gave a short talk on wine appreciation after which bottles of well-aged, vintage 2005, Luce della Vite Lucente from Italy were poured for all to fully enjoy during cocktails.

“I would have pared it with a full-flavored steak,” Kahn indulged InterAksyon.com with an answer on what he would have paired Luce with.
Rich, bold, and aromatic with a very handsome dark color—Luce impressively delivers a very smooth finish. If wines had a gender, Luce would be a brutish gentleman. Think Aaron Cross or James Bond.
But anyway—enough with the infatuation.
“The idea behind the event is to complement the classic and elegant furnishings of Ethan Allen with an equally timeless product such as fine wine,” explains Melissa Valdez, Ethan Allen brand manager.

“We’ve invited people who share the same passion for timelessness and for fine living. Besides our loyal clients who have stayed faithful to the brand through the years, we also have our younger set of clients—those ‘youthful old souls’ who are also exposed to various cultures, the arts, have a flair for travel, and appreciate classic living with a modern perspective,” adds Valdez.
Ethan Allen is now on its 16th year in the Philippines and is just one of the high-end brands distributed by Focus Global Incorporated. It’s a one-stop shop for large furniture pieces and home accents ranging from jars and candle holders, to decorative pillows, mirrors, to rugs.
Its Greenbelt Showroom at The Residences has gained a reputation for the way it has arranged its furniture pieces—refined yet versatile and never dull. Each showcase, of course, is based on the brand’s five kinds of lifestyles that define each of its five collections.
Elegance collection is distinguished by cosmopolitan and ornate furnishings while the Modern collection carries pieces that highlight both simplicity and functionality.
Vintage collection, which interplays artful patterns with distressed finishes. Explorer, which includes eclectic pieces accentuated with intricately detailed wood; and Romance, which blends carved woods, handcrafted finishing, and fabrics with feminine details.

Of course, the operative phrase is still “home furnishing,” to have contemporary pieces that will make its owner appreciate the confines of his or home and guiltlessly surrender to living in the lap of luxury. Fabrics of Ethan Allen furnishings, after all are stain-resistant, you won’t scream with shock should a guest accidentally spill wine on your sofa. You’ll have enough time to clean it up without causing permanent stains.
Even better, you can have your furniture the way you want it—make it leather or choose from an exquisite selection of fabrics. You can even have it studded. A design consultant is always around to help you select the right furniture for your home.
