Anyone who keeps abreast of the who’s who in the local fashion scene knows that Liz Uy is a star in her own right. While most of her previous work brought glamor in celebrity shoots, this acclaimed stylist is now a celebrity endorser herself .
Liz is the newest face of Plains & Prints. She joins the league of actress Gretchen Baretto, society ‘it’ girl Celine Lopez, and international VJ Paula Taylor in this fashion house’s notable parade of beauties.

“She is a ‘thinking’ woman, by this, I mean that she is a woman of style and substance," says Plains & Prints founder Roxanne Ang Farillas, shown here with her husband Erickson Farillas and Liz. Photo by Joseph Agcaoili, InterAksyon.com.
Just a couple of months, Liz expanded her stylish sphere when she made the front pages while out on a date with President Noynoy Aquino on several occasions. Suddenly, TV crews, both national and foreign wanted a piece of Liz. That wasn’t her first exposure to media’s spotlight as she was previously linked to actor John Lloyd Cruz; and that story filled pages upon pages of newsprint. Yet by all accounts, Liz is a natural magnet for public curiosity especially in the company of her high profile girl friends who are equally as stunning, admired and adored. Call her local showbiz’s answer to Hollywood stylist Rachel Zoe, having worked behind iconic shoots imprinted in our collective minds to this day.
At her well-attended launch as the new face of Plains & Prints in Glorietta last Tuesday, Liz can only exclaim “I’m so happy” as her family, friends and colleagues showed up to support her newest endeavor. “This came at the right time. I’m at a point in my life where I’m surer of myself and more mature, and I feel ready to take on new things in my career. I can only be thankful for opportunities like this, so it goes without saying that I want to embrace and enjoy the entire experience. I’m very excited about this new venture,” says Liz.

Best friend Raymond Gutierrez hosted the event providing little anecdotes about Liz and her love affair with the brand. “While we were in London, Liz brought so many clothes from Plains & Prints because it gave the extra oomph to the classics,” Raymond shares. He was referring to their recent trip to the United Kingdom with model and friend Georgina Wilson where the three attended a ball and danced the night away to British sensation Alexa Chung’s beats.

Being a celebrity stylist for Liz is no walk in the park. “I’m careful with what I affiliate with, especially when it comes to clothes, as it is my considered area of expertise,” she explains. “As a stylist, my job isn’t just to know what looks good on other people, I also need to impress on other people what I can do by knowing what looks good on me—and Plains & Prints is definitely the brand I would instantly go for.”
Plains & Prints, a company started by Roxanne Ang Farillas as a stall in Greenhills Mall, has now grown into one of the more influential fashion houses dominating the style scene. The brand has earned loyal patrons for its trendy but timeless pieces. “The Plains & Prints woman is strong and knows what she wants,” says Farillas. She’s also very driven and determined, she adds, much like Liz.
“Having worked with Liz for ad campaigns over the past six years and seeing her rise to the top of her profession, we knew that she was who we wanted to represent us—the one our consumers look up to,” shares Farillas on why they chose Liz as their poster girl. “She is a ‘thinking’ woman, by this, I mean that she is a woman of style and substance, and she understands the value of hard work and determination—very much the characteristics that our brand champions.”
Farillas adds that Liz is perfect for their brand because she is someone people can relate to whether she’s guesting in a comedy variety show or dancing to “Call Me Maybe.” Her down-to-earth personality makes her real and accessible.
The year 2012 may be half way over but it is turning out as Liz’s banner year. With a new endorsement, a book in the works, and more styling jobs to conquer, there’s no stopping her. Passion, dedication, and hard work has put her up in Cloud 9 even alongside international fashion’s big name players but she has kept her demeanor, happy-go-lucky personality and feet firmly on the ground. No doubt she deserves all these—and much more.
