There are many options a woman could now take in her quest to stop the proverbial clock and to keep her looking fresh and young. There are creams and serums, spa therapies, and drastic steps that involve going under the knife.

Still, many women prefer non-invasive, more natural ways to find that fountain of youth. Thankfully, the beauty industry is also recognizing women’s needs for more natural remedies.

Taking its cue from the trend of aiming for holistic wellness and for more natural treatments, Nutramedica—the same maker of Novuhair—recently launched an anti-aging food supplement called Novuskin Lift.

Packed in a gold box—the better to point out its positioning as “the gold standard” in anti-aging supplement—each tablet of Novuskin Lift consists of 18 natural anti-aging and skin brightening extracts with marine fish collagen, grape seed extract, and L-glutathione as its star components.

At the product’s unveiling at Dusit Hotel, Makati, Dr. Cecilia Catapang, an aesthetics and rejuvenation expert gave a thorough presentation on the benefits of taking Novuskin Lift.

Dr. Catapang noted, “Novuskin Lift provides multiple dermatological as well as health benefits, including skin protection and restoration. It is more than just a beauty product.”

Collagen facts
In her presentation, Dr. Catapang said that aging is a natural process and is an accumulation of “detrimental changes at the molecular and cellular levels, and ultimately at the levels of tissues and organs resulting in disease and increased risk of mortality and morbidity.”

By age 20, the skin’s anti-oxidation defense and barrier functions starts to decline. By age 40, aging becomes more visible as the skin loses some elasticity, becomes prone to sagging, and starts showing wrinkles.

As a woman ages, her body reduces collagen that was built up during her youthful days. Collagen, the most abundant protein in the body, keeps bones solid and keeps the skin perky, firm, plump, and smooth.

Bad habits, however, such as poor diet, smoking, sun exposure, and a stressful lifestyle can hasten the degradation of collagen-supporting structures, causing skin sagging and wrinkles even before one reaches 50, 40, even 30!

Improved with natural extracts
NovuSkin Lift is a collaboration between InterThai Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Ltd., one of Thailand’s leading healthcare manufacturer with over 40 years in business, and Nutramedica.

Although NovuSkin Lift is manufactured in Thailand, Philippine company Nutramedica has collaborated with InterThai on the research and development aspect of the product. With Nutramedica and InterThai’s collaboration, Novuskin Lift has been improved with the addition of natural ingredients such as various antioxidants and co-factor nutrients that aid in collagen production.

Dr. Catapang pointed out, however, that taking marine fish collagen—which is said to have similarities with human collagen, and that our body needs to combat oxidative stress and cellular repair—is not enough to achieve results.

She also pointed out that endogenous antioxidants (produced by the body) alone may not be enough to slow down the skin’s aging process especially in conditions that promote oxidative stress. Getting one’s daily dose of vitamins and minerals from food alone isn’t enough as well.

The best nutritional supplement—a good beauty pill for that matter— should consist of all three: marine fish collagen, antioxidants, and vitamins and minerals.

NovuSkin Lift has all three, Dr. Catapang noted. It also consists of other beneficial ingredients like green tea extract, grape seed extract, pine bark extract, and Korean ginseng extract, to name a few.

Dr. Catapang said that she also takes NovuSkin Lift and can attest to improvements in the skin appearance on herself and her patients who have used NovuSkin Lift.  Among these effects are having a dewy skin, improvement in the skin’s elasticity, reduction of fine lines and sunspots, and generally having glowing skin.

The best time to take NovuSkin Lift though is when a women reaches the 30s, which is when collagen production accumulated during one’s 20s starts to diminish.
