The Dela Salle Santiago Zobel Chorale and Strings serenaded AFP Soldiers last August 4 at the auditorium of the AFP Medical Center (also known as the V. Luna Medical Center) to honor the latter and to provide music as part of their healing therapy as they recover from their traumatic injuries and illnesses, and to uplift their spirits.
The musical concert was organized by Monique Pronove of Pronove Tai International Property Consultants together with AFPMC Chief Col. Joseph Acosta and Col. Jocelyn Turla, DLSZ Chorale and Strings in collaboration with Makati Medical Center (MMC) Foundation, Tramway, and JCI Ortigas.
Makati Medical Center Foundation joined hands together with the V. Luna Medical Center to bring the student performers to the hospital. The students, in turn, were given the opportunity to interact with some of the patients and learn more about the tough life of a soldier.
The DLSZ chorale rendered songs such as “Magsimula Ka” by Gines Tan and “Better World” by Ryan Cayabyab.
Next, the DLSZ Strings performed upbeat tunes such as “Smooth Criminal” by Michael Jackson, “Uptown Funk” and “Just the way you are” by Bruno Mars that inspired the soldiers to dance and have fun.
Music therapy has been part of the healing program, alongside medical treatment, of patients from military organizations abroad. At the V. Luna Medical Center, the happy faces and movements of the patients showed that music, such as that generously shared by the talented kids of DLSZ, can refresh energies, touch spirits. and truly become a joyful experience.
