Visual Palindromes in ‘Never Odd or Even’ at saGuijo

'Dogma, I Am God.' iPhoneography by PluralPunk.

In Never Odd or Even, PluralPunk explores the duality of perception by playing with images, through the unconventional medium of iPhoneography. Distorting the bleak, concrete and metal that encompasses our city, PluralPlunk finds beauty through the eye of an iPhone 4S lens and a few simple editing tools.  The challenge of both shooting and editing through an iPhone 4S creates real yet vibrant images of everyday objects that when paired with the show’s appeal to the natural instinct of finding order in symmetry, results in otherworldly images that can only happen in the artist’s mind.

'Dr. Awkward.' iPhoneography by PluralPunk.

PluralPunk is a musician and record producer whose work with bands such as Sugarfree, Imago, Sandwich, and his own project band, Loquy has made him a constant collaborator in the music industry. Known by most as Sancho, his expertise on the acoustic guitar has recently been hailed by Justin Sunico of Ciudad as the man “who can show you what it means to be a guitar hero unplugged.”

'I Prefer Pi.' iPhoneography by PluralPunk.

Never Odd or Even is PluralPunk’s first foray into the art scene, wherein he merges creative force and current technology through iPhoneography. There are layers beneath the plain appearance of his photographs, alternate realities and countless possibilities. Inspired by palindromes, in Never Odd or Even, the artist’s intentions and concept encompass more than just the exhibit, but challenges the viewer to search for more than what is apparent. The power of one photograph is not to replace a thousand words or emotions, but to allow the viewer to stop and think about how they perceive their own realities.

Never Odd or Even, Symmetric Faux-tography by PluralPunk will be on exhibit at The Pocket Universe Gallery from April 11 to May 12, 2012.

Opening Night is on April 11, Wednesday, at 8pm with guest performances by Loquy, Sandwich, Sundownmuse, Malay and The Joshua Four-a U2 tribute band made up by iconic musicians Jett Pangan, Raymund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala and Sancho.
