Maxine Medina assures of a “back-to-back” win for the Philippines as she expressed her confidence that she will bring home the coveted Miss Universe crown.
“We can do this..I’m sure we will do a back-to-back (win), ” Medina confidently told the press during a send off event hosted by the Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. (BPCI) last Tuesday at the Novotel Hotel in Araneta Center, Quezon City.
BPCI Chairperson Stella Marquez-Araneta thinks that the 26 year-old model, interior designer, and the current Binibining Pilipinas Miss Universe title holder is ready for the competition.
“I only expect her to win. I think she is ready. Her preparations, she had been thoughtful and dedicated so the girl is ready,” Araneta told some reporters.
Determined to win, Medina shared some the preparations she is doing, which is making her feel positive and ready for the coronation day slated on January 30.
“I’ve been training 24/7 and every day of my life I’m actually learning. I had one on one coaching with Dale Carnegie, John Robert Powers, and all of my mentors especially Binibining Pilipinas. I’ve seen myself grow, evolving in my communication, and speaking in front of a lot of people,” Medina said.
Medina, who currently has currently a stunning vital statistics of 34-24-35, confirmed that she will be answering in the Q & A potion in English and also shared how she is practicing hard everyday for it.
“(I practice) Everyday. 24/7. They’ve been throwing me a lot of questions and I’m answering it in English. 100%, we can do this,” Medina noted.
This week, candidates from all over the world are expected to arrive in the country according to the Department of Tourism statement last Jan. 4.
The ladies are scheduled to visit the following destinations: Boracay (14 January), Vigan (15 January), Manila (16 January), Cebu (17 January), Baguio (18 January), Davao and Batangas on the (19 January).
As the host delegate, Medina is looking forward to share what Philippines is known for.
“I will be sharing our hospitality, our culture, our values. Of course the best thing is, I will share to them the best food choice in the world, which is the Filipino food,” she said, and added that she would like to make the candidates try the ‘boodle fight.’
Full of gratitude to her supporters, the country’s bet to the Miss Universe is also asking for more prayers as there are only a few days left before the competition proper.
“Right now, I had all the help, and the last thing that I will be needing is prayers, a blessing from God,” she said.
“Sana suportahan niyo po ako hanggang pageant sa January 30. I hope you guys will be there, and I hope you will support me,” she added.
During the send off, her family, friends, and Bb. Pilipinas sisters gave their well wishes to Medina.
2016 Miss Grand international first runner up Nicole Cordoves told Medina, “I know that you are the perfect representative for Miss Universe Philippines because you can show them what the heart of a Filipina really is.”
On the other hand, 2016 Miss International Kylie Verzosa pleaded for Medina to bring home the crown.
“We’ve all seen how Maxine has grown. She remains beautiful but the most beautiful part of her is her heart.. I believe in you, Max. I can’t wait for another crown for the Philippines kaya iuwi mo na yung korona, please.” Versoza said.
