New SC Associate Justice Andres Reyes Jr. is sworn in by Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.

MANILA, Philippines — The newest member of the Supreme Court, Associate Justice Andres Reyes Jr., was sworn in by Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno Friday morning.

Reyes, former presiding justice of the Court of Appeals, was accompanied by his family.

Also present at the oath-taking were Associate Justices Antonio Carpio, Teresita de Castro, Jose Mendoza, Estela Perlas-Bernabe, and newly retired Associate Justice Bienvenido Reyes, who the new magistrate replaced.

Reyes is the third justice and the first Ateneto Law graduate President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed to the tribunal.
