CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – A township project architecturally inspired by the cultural heritage of Pampanga will soon rise at a 35.6-hectare property where the historic Pampanga Sugar Development Company was once situated at Barangay Sto. Niño here, Megaworld key officials announced Thursday.

“What we are building in Pampanga is a unique township concept that will truly bring out the best of Capampangan culture, tradition and history,” said Eugene Em Lozano, Megaworld’s Pampanga first vice president for sales and marketing.

The site development plan, Lozano said, will be completely achieved in 10 years. “Pampanga will see a central business district that will not only showcase home-grown businesses but also a center for local arts and culture.”

The project includes mix-use commercial and residential complexes, business process outsourcing establishments and institutional facilities, such as schools, amphitheater, event venues, mall and retail hubs, hotels, and a shop house district that highlights neoclassical and art deco architecture.

“Fifty percent of the land area is intended for BPO,” said Lozano during a press conference held at SOUQ Restaurant, adding that the project will generate employment for the locals directly and indirectly.

Lozano added that land development is set to start this year. Twenty percent of the entire township area will be devoted to green and open spaces, including road networks.

“Megaworld’s first township in the north is just five minutes away from the North Luzon Expressway and 30 minutes away from Clark International Airport (CRK),” Lozano told reporters.

“We are anticipating this to be a busy township. This early, we are putting in place the infrastructure that’s fit for a central business district,” Lozano explained.

A museum will also be built, where significant artifacts of the sugar central will be housed, and to be integrated with the proposed mall development. Monuments of famous Pampanga personalities will be erected in separate areas within the project site.

The six-hectare shophouse district will be the center of the Capital Town highlighting the old Pampanga charm with post-colonial architectures.
