MANILA, Philippines — PLDT is discussing a possible outsourcing deal with information technology firms Huawei and Amdocs after it called off talks with IBM.
PLDT chairman and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan said they plan to outsource some of their IT operations to Huawei or Amdocs to cut costs.
“The IBM discussion has been stopped so now we are focusing on Huwei and Amdocs, not for all but for major parts of our it processes,” Pangilinan said.
“I think my mandate to our working team is to have everything signed by yearend so we could start working, albeit some contracts have already been signed with Huawei …” he added.
Earlier, PLDT said it might save up to P7 billion year if it outsources parts of its IT operations.
