The Philippine national women’s basketball team remained winless in the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup after an 87-53 defeat to Chinese Taipei in the classification round on Friday at Sree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium in Bengaluru, India.
It was the fifth straight loss for Perlas Pilipinas which was booted out of contention by China in the quarterfinals on Thursday. The team also suffered drubbings at the hands of Japan, Australia and South Korea in the preliminaries.
France Cabinbin led the way for the Filipinas with 14 points, three rebounds and seven dimes.
The result sent Perlas Pilipinas to the battle for seventh to eighth places against North Korea on Saturday, with the winner retaining its place in the elite Division A.
