A fan-made video featuring what appeared to be a crossover of “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” and Korean drama “Descendants of the Sun” gained traction on a popular discussion forum.

YouTube user “Super Ken 슈퍼 켄” uploaded a three-minute video on Reddit that showed how the hit Philippine primetime series would look like if the story and music of the Korean drama were to be incorporated.

The user called it “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano: Korean Version.”

An explanation was uploaded by the user at the start of the video, where an excerpt of it reads:

“Hello, ABS-CBN, please sana po suportahan niyo rin ako gaya ng pagsusuporta ko po sa mga palabas niyo… OO mahilig po ako sa Korean drama pero sinusuportahan ko pa rin kayo.”

YouTube users praised the fan-made video who commented that the edit can be considered part of “the top 10 best Korean (drama) opening” list.

“FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” and “Descendants of the Sun” are two of the most popular television series in local cables.

Last February 2019, Dreamscape Entertainment—the production arm overseeing “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano”—announced that the action drama had topped GMA Network’s “Kara Mia” in “double digits.”

“FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” has been showing for four years, making it one of the few longest-running television series in the Philippines.

Meanwhile, “Descendants of the Sun” is considered one of the most phenomenal Korean dramas. It has been translated into 32 languages—including Filipino—and was sold to more than 27 countries.

GMA Network in January 2019 announced that it would remake the Korean drama with Filipino actors. Some viewers, however, expressed their concern over the casting on social media.

Last week, it was revealed that Dingdong Dantes would play Captain Yoo Shi Jin or the “Big Boss” in the Philippine adaptation.
