MANILA, Philippines – Get ready with your shields, corrupt public officials. President Rodrigo Duterte’s newly appointed assistant secretary for social media has vowed to go after the crooks in government as she shifts away from bashing the chief executive’s critics via social media.

“So hindi na po tayo nakafocus sa mga kritiko. Mas dodoblehin ‘yong pagpuna sa mga corrupt na mga opisyal ng gobyerno. Marami pa rin d’yan eh,” said dancer-singer-blogger-turned government executive Mocha Uson a day before she went with Duterte in his official trip to Cambodia on Wednesday.

[So we will no longer focus on critics. We will double our efforts in criticizing corrupt officials in the government. There are still many there.]

“So mas matindi pa siguro ngayon ‘yong pagpuna sa mga public servant na di naman talaga nagsisilbi sa taumbayan,” she added.

[So we will intensify our criticism against public servants who don’t truly serve the people.]

Uson, who campaigned for Duterte, became famous online through attacking the critics of the chief executive.

She was caught in many social media tiffs with critics, who accused her of sharing false information via the Internet.

Nevertheless, Uson continued to receive high engagement through her Facebook page, Mocha Uson Blog, which now has close to five million followers.

Also, Uson said that as a government leader on social media affairs, she would help give voice to the needy including overseas Filipino workers, who were not extended help by the previous administration.
