Filipina missing in London high-rise fire presumed dead – PH embassy

MANILA, Philippines — A Filipina who went missing when fire struck a high-rise apartment building in London last week is now presumed dead the Philippine Embassy in the United Kingdom said.

The embassy said Ligaya Moore had not been found despite a search in coordination with the Metropolitan Police and the Filipino community in London.

“She has now been included by the MetPolice as among those presumed to have perished in the Grenfell Tower tragedy,” the embassy said. “Her next of kin have been informed. Our thoughts go out to her family and loved ones as we hope for the recovery of her mortal remains.”

The embassy also reiterated its call to those affected by the fire that struck the 27-story Grenfell Tower last June 14 to identify themselves as it continues coordinating assistance for them from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Filipino community.
