MANILA, Philippines — A policeman died in the hospital where he was rushed after he was shot by motorcycle-riding killers in front of his home in Sampaloc, Manila Tuesday morning, October 10.
Police Officer 2 Joey Imperial, 45, was reading a newspaper as he ate breakfast on Calabash Road, Sampaloc district when two men drove up on a motorcycle and opened fire.
The wounded Imperial rushed inside his house to get his gun but collapsed as the gunmen sped away, according to his brother-in-law Roman Cruz.
The policeman, who was hit in the heart and stomach, was declared dead around 8:30 a.m.
Imperial was undergoing retraining at the National Capital Region Police Office and was previously assigned to the Quezon City and Manila Police Districts.
