MANILA, Philippines — An alert has been raised for possible floods and landslides in Eastern Visayas and parts of Mindanao that could be triggered by rain showers and thunderstorms from a low pressure area last tracked 350 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar.

Aside from the expected heavy rains in the Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Davao and Eastern Visayas regions, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said light to moderate, with at times heavy, rains could also trigger floods and landslides in the res of the Visayas.

On the other hand, the northeast monsoon will continue bringing cloudy skies with scattered rains to Luzon, including Metro Manila, but will otherwise have no significant impact.

Waters off Northern and Central Luzon, the eastern and western sections of Southern Luzon, and Eastern Visayas are forecast to be rough to very rough.

Moderate to rough seas are expected off the rest of Luzon and the Visayas, and slight to moderate off Mindanao.
