MANILA – A suspected ISIS-inspired Maute terrorist group sub-leader and his follower were arrested Saturday in Tondo, Manila, the chief of the PNP National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said Sunday.
Director Oscar Albayalde identified the sub-leader as Nasser Lomondot alias Muhamad Lomondot and his group member as Rizasalam Lomondot.
Their arrest was made possible by a coordinated operation between the Manila Police District, NCRPO, the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA), PNP-Intelligence Group (IG) and 103rd Brigade Philippine Army along Recto Dagupan in Tondo district.
Nasser was allegedly involved in the attack on a Civilian Active Auxiliary Detachment in Brgy Mantapoli, Marantao, Lanao Del Sur sometime last year. He also took part in the killings of innocent Christians, committed violence against women and children hostages, and was one of the key planners in the attack of Marantao, LDS during the Marawi Siege, said NCRPO.
Recovered from the duo were one hand grenade and one caliber 45 pistol. They were brought to DID-MPD, NCRPO for Documentation.
Charges of violations of RA 10591 (Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunitions) and RA 9516 were filed against them.
