LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Police Cordillera Regional Office (ProCor) Director Chief Supt Elmo Francis Sarona presided over simple ceremonies welcoming some 494 police recruits on August 17, 2017 at Camp Bado in Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet.

The new police officers composed, of 334 males and 160 females, form part of the PRO-COR Regular Recruitment Program to meet its quota for current year 2017.

According to ProCor, not all of the newly appointed police officers are from the Cordillera region, as 32 are recruits from Central Luzon (PRO3), with two others hailing from Region 1 (Ilocos) and seven more, females, from Region 4A.

Sarona reminded the recruits that much is expected from them since they are already government property and are subjected to rules and regulations of the PNP.

Likewise, he advised the training officers to give their best in molding the recruits so that, after the training, they will be sufficiently prepared and serve as responsible police officers protecting the people from lawlessness to the best of their ability, guided by the virtues of Discipline, Teamwork and Commitment.

In their customary reception rites, the recruits were encouraged to be prepared for a regimented world, where all of their actions should fall within the ambit of the mandates of their organization – the Philippine National Police.

They will be required to finish the six-month Public Safety Basic Recruit Course (PSBRC) toward earning the Police Office 1 rank, which be followed by a separate six-month Field Training Program (FTP) to qualify them for permanency.

With the entry-level rank of Police Officer 1, they will receive a basic monthly salary of Php14,834, which doesn’t count allowances and other non-cash benefits.

The new cops will fill up vacant slots for Police Officer 1 in the PNP as a result of the death; dismissal and retirements of the PNP personnel assigned within the Region.
