With their entry in this year’s K-Pop Cover Dance Festival, the all-girl Philippine dance group Y.O.U. are hoping for the full support of Filipino K-Pop fans in the competition.
Y.O.U, an all-girl dance group formed only last December, is the Philippines’ only delegates to the global dance competition. Inspired by the South Korean girl group I.O.I. (Ideal of Idol), Y.O.U. is currently composed of Czarina Gagarin, Jeanneaiko Calderon, Angelou Villanueva, Jen Igsi, Clarissa Saet, Christine Raguero, and Jocel Gaoat.
These talented young ladies will be competing against Korea’s OVERFATE (men) and Vely (women), Hong Kong’s Friends Junction Boys, Indonesia’s A.C.E.S., Japan’s Navi, Mexico’s CLUE, Russia’s X.east, USA’s The First Bite and Vietnam’s SuperNova.
The semi-finals of the K-Pop Cover Dance Festival will be held on Friday, June 2, starting at 4PM, Manila time. The successful teams will battle it out at the finals on June 3 and will be broadcast Live on Twitter via Periscope. To watch the competition live, fans simply have to follow the @KPOPCoverDance account on Twitter.
To sweeten the deal and add more excitement to the contest, Twitter has also introduced its own Twitter Popular Choice Award category in the contest which will be determined by fan tweets.

Voting for the Twitter Popular Choice Award began last May 26 and will conclude this Friday, June 2. During this period, K-Pop fans are allowed to interact with their favorite groups as finalists are encouraged to tweet photos, stickers, videos, live video on Periscope, and more of their preparation and participation at the Festival.
The finalist dance group with the maximum engagement (i.e. most mentions, likes, retweets and replies) on their Twitter team account as well as the most mentions of their related team hashtags on Twitter by 2 June, 5;30PM, Manila time, will win the Twitter Popular Choice Award.
As of Wednesday, May 31, the Top 5 vote-getters are Russia’s X.east followed by Japan’s Navi, USA’s The First Bite, Korea’s OVERFATE and Vietnam’s Super Fate. UPDATE: By late Thursday night, however, Y.O.U. cracked the Top 5 and is currently ranked at No. 4.
