President Duterte and Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) founder Nur Misuari had a brief meeting at Malacañang on Thursday, where they warmly embraced and also posed for souvenir pictures with Misuari’s entourage, which included Misuari’s wife and a son.
The MNLF party went to Malacañang for a meeting, the details of which were not disclosed.
The office of the President had recently submitted its draft of the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL), which aims to institutionalize autonomous governance of places that would be included in Muslim Mindanao.
According to Deputy Executive Secretary Menardo Guevarra, the MNLF delegation underscored its commitment toward the implementation of BBL and also to the roadmap toward lasting peace. (With additional reportage from Maricel Halili, News5)
